When it comes to decorating a room, it can be difficult to know where to start. One helpful rule of thumb is the 60-30-10 rule of interior design. This rule states that 60% of a room should be the dominant colodeclutter-your-mind-how-tidying-up-your-space-can-improve-your_mental-health-wellness-interior-designr, 30% should be a secondary color, and 10% should be an accent color.

Step 1: Choose your dominant color.

The dominant color should be the color that you want to be the most prominent in the room. This color should be used on the walls, floors, and larger furniture pieces. This color will be the base of your color scheme and will help to create a cohesive look.

Step 2: Choose your secondary color.

The secondary color should be used as a supporting color and should be used on smaller furniture pieces and accessories. This color will be used to create contrast and interest in the room.

Step 3: Choose your accent color.

The accent color should be used sparingly to add a pop of color and interest to the room. This color can be used on throw pillows, artwork, and other small accessories.

Step 4: Implement the rule.

Now that you have chosen your dominant, secondary, and accent colors, it's time to implement them in the room. Use your dominant color on the walls, floors, and larger furniture pieces. Use your secondary color on smaller furniture pieces and accessories or a single wall of a room. Use your accent color sparingly to add a pop of color and interest to the room.

Step 5: Experiment and have fun.

The 60-30-10 rule is a helpful guide, but it's important to remember that interior design is a personal and subjective thing. Consider how your selected colors make you feel. Ultimately, the most important thing is to choose colors that make you happy and that work well in the space to promote wellness through home design.

By following the 60-30-10 rule, you can create a harmonious and balanced space that feels cohesive and put together. Remember to have fun and experiment with different color combinations, and you'll be sure to create a space that you love.
